How Humanity Asks runs, how it is secured, how it is funded, and what we have corrected.
Infrastructure
- Cloudflare Workers serve the site and apply rate limits and the human-verification check.
- Participation data is stored in Supabase PostgreSQL in the EU, in the Frankfurt region (eu-central-1).
- A copy of the editorial question library is kept in Cloudflare D1 in the EU. Answers are not stored there.
- Resend sends sign-in and account emails from noreply@humanityasks.com, and delivers contact-form messages to our team.
- Google Workspace receives mail sent to hello@humanityasks.com.
- Stripe processes Circles and organization payments.
Fonts are served from our own domain. The only third-party script on the site is Cloudflare's human-verification check. No advertising or analytics run on the site.
What is logged
Application logs record only an event name, the route, the method, the HTTP status, an error code, the duration, a request id and the environment. They never contain answers, email addresses, tokens, cookies or query strings. Cloudflare invocation logs are turned off. Our authentication provider records sign-in events, as described in Privacy.
Security
- The site is served only over HTTPS, and browsers are told to keep using it (HSTS).
- Pages send a strict Content Security Policy, which limits the scripts they can run.
- Page scripts cannot read the session cookie.
- Sign-in codes are single-use and expire after one hour.
Funding and prices
Humanity Asks is funded by Circles subscriptions and organization plans. Public participation is free.
- Circles: €4.99 a month or €49.99 a year, VAT included. Create private circles or join other people's, with up to 30 people in each.
- Organizations: €49 / €99 / €249 a month, or €490 / €990 / €2,490 a year, for 100 / 500 / 2,000 enrolled participants, excluding applicable VAT. For more than 2,000 participants, the price is agreed with us. Set up an organization on Humanity Asks for Organizations.
No plan buys a different answer, a hidden edit, or extra weight in a public result. See the Constitution.
AI in editorial work
When AI tools help draft a question or a translation, a person reviews the draft before it is published. Participants' answers are never sent to an AI provider.
